Mechanical ,physical and chemical properties of aluminum alloys vary depending on the alloying elements and micro structure .the most important alloying elements in aluminum are copper ,manganese ,silicone ,magnesium and zinc.

Aluminum alloys are divided into two categories: wrought alloys and cast iron . forged alloys have the ability to deform well plastic and can be easily formed .heat treatment can be applied to a large number of forged and cast aluminum alloys .according to the American Aluminum Association .forged  aluminum alloys are classified by four letters .This classification is as follows:

1xxx series

It has 99% aluminum and higher.It has excellent corrosion resistance ,electrical and thermal conductivity.  It’s  mechanical properties are low .As the strain hardens ,a small increase in strength can be achieved .this material is mainly used in electrical and chemical industries .welding can be done.

Alloy :1050,1060,1100,1145,1200,1230,1350 and so on

2xxx series

The main alloying element is copper.It has a maximum of 6.3 %copper.

Other alloying elements ,especially magnesium ,are shows the hardening of the rain .they do not have as much corrosion resistance as other aluminum alloys.

Welding ability depends on the alloy between bad and medium .The good thing about this series is that they show good resistance at Temperatures  up to 150 degrees Celsius (300 degrees Fahrenheit  ).

This material is used in the manufacture of products such as aircraft fuselage and mechanical elements, vehicle fuselage panels that require high strength .the 2024 aluminum series is the most type of aluminum and is used effectively in aircraft design.

Alloy:2011,2014,2017,2018,2124,2219,2319,2010,2030,206,2240,2420

3xxx series

The main alloying element is manganese .

It has excellent deformation and welding capabilities and excellent corrosion resistance .It is generally incurable , about 20% of these series have stronger aluminum alloys than the 1xxx series.

Normal performance strength is up to 250 MPA used in the production of beverage cans ,chemical containers ,industrial roofs ,curved pipes.

Alloy:3003,3004,3105,3830,3850,3900

4xxx series

The main alloying element is silicon (generally ,the Si ratio is up to 12%).

If copper contains content ,precipitation can be made harder .they are alloys with low thermal expansion coefficient ,high wear resistance and corrosion resistance.

These aluminum alloys are required in architectural applications and are used in anode oxide coatings because they contain a significant amount of coal gray silicon .they are used in the manufacture of high temperature resistance parts such as piston ,in welded structures , in the manufacture of plates ,as well as in welding wires and solder alloys.

Alloy:4032,4043,4145,4643

5xxx series

The main alloying element is magnesium .as the magnesium ratio increases ,the hardness and strength increases .adding a maximum of 5.1%magnesium to the solution, increases the rate of hardening of the deformation.It can be cooled to 260 MPA for performance resistance .It has excellent welding power and medium strength.It has high corrosion resistance against seawater and chemicals .it has many applications , especially in the shipbuilding industry.

alloy : 5005,5049,5052,5083,5754

6xxx series

The main alloying element is magnesium and silicon .A combination of Mg and Si hardens Mg 2 Si precipitation .Although not as durable as 2xxx and 7 xxx alloys ,6xxx series alloys have moderate strength with good forming ,welding ,machining and relatively good corrosion resistance ,available in sheet ,plate ,extrusion product .It also has programs like 5000 series .

Alloys:6013,6052 and 6061

7xxxseries

Zinc is the main element of the alloy (containing between 1 and 8% zinc) ,often used in combination with magnesium ,copper and small amounts of manganese and chromium to increase  strength. They can be exposed to heat and show high resistance .7xxx series is the highest strength of aluminum alloy. It is used when stressful corrosion or clapping is a problem , and often used in aircraft .copper alloys can harden with precipitation .There is a wide range of welding capabilities ,from bad to very good, depending on the alloy and the method.

Alloy:7075,7050,749,7100,7110

8xxx series

The main alloying element is lithium and tin can be added .Iron and Nickel increase their resistance without significant loss of electrical conductivity and are used in alloys such as 8017.This material ,which is used especially in airplanes and space structures ,has good resistance to fatigue and toughness. however ,production costs are high compared to other all alloys .used in aviation applications.
