Ingot is a one-piece ,usually made of metal ,which is made up of basic materials .

The ingot is rectangular in shape for further processing.

In steelmaking ,the first step among semi-finished casting products is ingots.

After iron ,it is one of the most widely used metals in the aluminum ingot industry (aluminum ingot) Because this metal is in a very good position in terms of quality and value ,by adding alloys such as magnesium, silicon,…These metals aquire very special and different properties and characteristics. It produce ingots in various forms such as fabric alloy and etc.

Why aluminum?

Aluminum has properties that make it more widely used among metals.

These features include the flexibility ,strength and light weigh of aluminum .

The properties of aluminum change when it is alloyed .

These alloy metals add some properties  to aluminum ,including:

*Strength

*Brilliance

*Lamination

*More ductility

Another properties of aluminum are lightness, strength, corrosion resistance and cracking.

When using aluminum is in building materials ,it should be given more strength by using different alloys ,so it should be mixed with a small amount of other metals ,the strength of aluminum should be as high as steel ,if it weighs only one-third the weight of steel.

Aluminum alloys and their applications:

Aluminum is used in foil ,tape ,sheet and plate in the automotive ,transportation ,construction and shipbuilding industries ,as well as engineering ,electrical ,household ,printing and packaging industries. Metals commonly used in aluminum alloys include magnesium ,silicon ,manganese ,zinc and copper.

Aluminum alloys due to their lighter weight than steel and aluminum alloys are used in engineering structures and components that require light weight and corrosion resistance .aluminum alloy is also used to transfer heat from one place to another .other applications of this alloy are in motor vehicles, refrigrators ,air conditioners ,solar systems and heating systems .aluminum foil ,which can be thinned to a size of 6 microns (micrometers),and coated using various lacquer technique ,is used for food packaging, medicine and technical applications.

Application of aluminum :

In general ,aluminum is the most widely used metal after iron in many industries .aluminum ,which is pure ,soft and weak ,can form alloys with quantities create a small amount 0f copper ,magnesium, manganese ,silicon and other elements that add a variety of special properties .

The alloys also form important components of aircraft and rockets .aluminum can be used to make coatings that do not lose their properties like silver coatings .these coatings form a thin layer of protective aluminum oxid.in this way ,when aluminum is evaporated in a vacuum ,it creates a coating that reflects both visible light and radiant heat.one of the applications of aluminum is in the mirror layer of astronomical telescope.

Some of the applications of aluminum are:

*transportation(cars, airplanes, trucks, ships, navies, railway ,etc)*packaging(cans ,foils ,etc)*durable consumer goods (home appliances ,kitchen appliances and…)

*electrical transmission lines (due to their light weight ,although their electrical conductivity is only 60%of the electrical conductivity of copper.)

*aluminum oxid machines (alumina)are found naturally in the form of corundum ,sandpaper ,ruby and sapphire ,which are used in the glass industry.

*lasers and synthetic sapphires are used in lasers to produce uniform light.

*aluminum oxidizes  are with great energy therefore used in the fuel of rocket propellants and thermostats.

Aluminum ingot production materials:

*industrial bitumen

*alumina

*petroleum

*coke and minerals

The most important aluminum ingot:

Aluminum ingots are divided into two categories of primary and secondary ingots.

Primary ingots:

Primary ingots have a high degree of purity and are extracted in different ways using ore.

These types of ingots are prepared in dimension sand sizes of about 5 to 15 kg and are used in the manufactured of parts that have good quality control and their price increases exponentially due to its purity and impurity.

Secondary ingots:

These ingots are obtained by recycling and refining aluminum scrap by adding compounds such as copper ,iron ,silicon.

These types of ingots have a good quality ,but the purity of these ingots are less than the primary ingots ,which are produced with specific combinations according to the requests and orders made by factories ,and industries that need these types.

Soft and dry ingots:

Dry ingots are the result of recycling dry waste such as cartridge cylinder heads and many car parts .the amount of dry waste dumped in the billet depends on the product produced and is added to the ingots at the customer’s request .soft ingots are the result of waste such as wire containers and are made and sent at the request of the customer .

Application of aluminum ingots construction industry:

*production of doors and windows

*manufacture of aluminum profiles

*automotive industry

*casting industry
